Review

Abstract:

As a developing country، Palestine faces a great challenge in tackling cybercrimes due to the necessity of advanced hardware، software، and skilled personnel requirements، bearing in mind the sensitivity and importance of the data being collected and processed. This study attempts to determine the reality of cybercrime investigation in Palestine from the perspective of lawyers and prosecutor assistants in charge of following up and monitoring cybercrime investigations. The study sample included 475 participants from Hebron Governorate، and the descriptive method was used. The results show that lawyers and prosecutor assistants need more training in cybercrime investigation. Lawyers and prosecutors were found to face different obstacles when dealing with cybercrimes، such as the lack of resources required to launch، maintain، and document investigations. The study recommends that lawyers and prosecutor assistants should receive more technical training in the field of cybercrime investigations. It also recommends allocating investment to establish a specialized cybercrime laboratory in Palestine in line with globally applicable standards.
