Final conference of the research project entitled " The effects of political conflict and social inequalities on healthcare quality and delivery in Palestine: resiliency in the face of adversity”

Hebron University hosted the conference on 25 July, 2022. Dr. Adel Takruri, the Principal Investigator, presented findings from a research project investigating obstacles to access of quality health services and how to improve healthcare delivery in Palestine.
Dr. Inad Nawajah, faculty at Hebron University, explained the statistical and research methodologies of the project.
Dr. Mahmoud Radwan, the director of health information department in Gaza and a partner in the project, gave an overview of healthcare in Gaza and Dr. Sahar Hassan, associate professor at Birzeit University and a co-researcher talked about healthcare in the West Bank.

Dr. Benjamin Bouquet from the World Health Organization presented the challenges of access to healthcare in Palestine based on the WHO field work and data. Jihad Harb, a researcher in governance and politics from the Coalition for Accountability and Integrity (AMAN) presented recommendations for improving the health insurance system in Palestine. Anwar Janazreh, the head of the Quality Improvement Unit in Northern Hebron, explained the achievements in improving quality care in Hebron, the remaining challenges, and recommendations on how to overcome the obstacles for providing high quality services.

Patients also talked about their experiences with the healthcare institutions they have visited. The participants emphasized the importance of the discussed topics and recommended organizing more conferences at the national level aiming at improving healthcare in Palestine.
The conference and the study were funded by the Arab Council for Social Sciences.
