HU Hosts Specialized Media Workshop in Collaboration with Journalists Without Limits

The Department of Media at Hebron University organized a training workshop as part of the “Knowledge Pioneers – Youth as Election Ambassadors” project, in cooperation with Journalists Without Limits and the Central Elections Commission. The workshop focused on media coverage of elections, campaign planning, advocacy, and mobilization strategies.

The event was opened by Dr. Saeed Shaheen, Head of the Media Department, who welcomed participants and highlighted the crucial role of media in promoting democratic values and political participation, especially amid the challenges facing the Palestinian people. He emphasized media’s power as a key agent of change.

Among the speakers were Dr. Qais Abu Ayash, Mr. Mohammad Abu Radwan representing the Central Elections Commission in Hebron, Mr. Shadi Zama'rah, Chairman of Journalists Without Limits, and Ms. Sarah Al-Masri, the project coordinator.

The workshop brought together 25 students from Hebron University and Palestine Polytechnic University, who will engage in the program over a three-month period. The initiative aims to enhance young people’s engagement in democratic processes and build their skills in electoral awareness, civic participation, digital media, and artificial intelligence.

The program also includes a specialized course on media and public relations, focusing on their role in promoting electoral awareness. Participants will be divided into working groups to carry out a range of activities, including on-campus events, field initiatives, student competitions, and a radio segment spotlighting youth participation in public life. The program will conclude with a field visit to the Central Elections Commission headquarters in Ramallah.

This project is part of Journalists Without Limits' ongoing efforts to empower Palestinian youth, foster a culture of democratic participation, and raise electoral awareness among young people through innovative media tools.
