Hebron University Hosts The Samaritan Myth Society
The chairman of the board of trustees of Hebron University Dr. Nabil Al-ja’abari received the head of the Samaritan Myth Society Mr. Ya’coub Al-Kahen accompanied by the legal advisor of the Society Mr. Shadi Al-Sameri and in the presence of the University President Prof. Dr. Ahmad Atawneh.
Dr. Al-Ja’abari remembered the trip made by his late father his eminence Sheikh Muhammad ‘Ali Al-Ja’abari to Mount Gerizim in Nablus in order to encourage the culture of dialogue, tolerance and peaceful living among all religious denominations in Palestine. He expressed his happiness and his support of the role of the Samaritan denomination in encouraging this culture and the importance of communication with the people of Palestine.
On his part, the head of the Samaritan Myth Society Mr. Ya’coub Al-Kahen gave a detailed explanation about the role of the Society, its aims , the nature , culture and the religious teachings of the denomination specially that every year it holds a peace camp the aim of which is working together for peaceful living on the land of Palestine.
Al-Kahen expressed his pride in holding the Palestinian citizenship. He talked about the challenges faces by the Samaritan sect and the harassments it has been exposed to by the Israeli occupation throughout the past decades.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Al-Kahen presented the book of the Samaritan Torah in the Arabic language by Abi-Al-Hasan Al-Souri as a memorial gift to Hebron University represented by its chairman of the board of trustees Dr. Nabil Al-Ja’abari. Then the delegation made a tour to get acquainted with the facilities of the University.
