New Netherlands Project on Legal Education at Hebron University
Dr. Salah Zaro, President of Hebron University, met at his office with a Dutch delegation consisted of three experts in the field of legal education to discuss the launch of a project for the support of Palestinian law schools to be funded by the government of the Netherlands. Dr. Mutaz Qafisheh, Dean of the College of Law and Political Science at Hebron University, and Dr. Daoud Akram, Dean of the Faculty of Law at An-Najah University, and a number of law professors and staff of Hebron University took part in the meeting.
The delegation discussed with the President of the university and the dean of the College of Law the implementation of the project at Hebron University. This would be done through a number of activities during the four-year program. The project includes infrastructure and management development, promotion of legal research through the establishment of a Palestinian law journal and publication of textbooks, the organization of international conferences, providing scholarships for students and professors abroad, supplement the law library with references and resources, support the establishment of an LLM program (Master of Law) in international law and human rights, the establishment of a moot court hall and a model classroom for the interactive teaching, and the expansion of legal clinics premises at Hebron University.
