UNRWA’s Principal Legal Officer Lectures at Hebron University
The Principal Legal Officer of UNRWA, Mr. Michael Schoiswohl, was invited as a guest speaker to speak on “UNRWA’s Mandate” at the International Refugee Law class taught by Ms. Diana Khleif, Lecturer at Hebron University Law School. Mr. Schoiswohl went through the history of UNRWA, starting from the definition of Palestine Refugees, to the quality of UNRWA’s services provided to refugees. The discussion focused on significance of using the appropriate and correct terminology when describing the status of Palestinian refugees. The UN official then discussed the applicability of the 1951 Convention on refugees to Palestine Refugees, as well as the position of the General Assembly regarding UNRWA’s work.
