About the Unit

Established Date, 2011.

Vision:

To be a key player in research and development the renewable energy arena and have a major role in reducing carbon foot print.

Message:

As the first green campus in Palestine that implements, develops, and researches all types of renewable energy sources. This will assist the University in spreading knowledge and sharing its expertise with all walks of the Palestinian community through workshops, seminars, as well as guided field trips for school level as well as college level student and other professional organizations.

Goals:

For Hebron University to be among the leading institutions that applies renewable energy projects as a support as part of its plan to gradually become a green campus.
Utilizing readily available natural resources to produce clean energy.
Increase the awareness among the university’s staff, students, visitors and the local community.
Energy conservation by using the lowest and most energy efficient equipment and tools, as well as implementation of Energy Auditing.
Providing professional consultation in the renewable energy field for the local community, individuals and students.
Starting the implementation from the University Campus and moving towards serving the local community.
Attempt to improve the renewable energy technology and locally developed technology.
Linking consumers and developers with the local renewable energy businesses by periodic renewable energy exhibition.
Attempt to share the future plan for renewable energy sector in Palestine.
Conducting renewable energy workshops.
Providing a weather data base to facilitate drawing the Hebron University wind map, and evaluate the opportunity of using wind energy as an energy source inside the campus.
Cooperating with the governmental and nongovernmental association to implement service projects for the local communities, especially for the Rural non-electrified villages.

Renewable energy Tent, Green Hall.
Weather data Registration.
Electrifying Rawaeen Village , Mosque and school using solar Energy in cooperation with EWB-Palestine.
Latest Implemented Projects:

- Fakhit and Tabban Communities, south mount Hebron, 12KWp solar energy four Centralized systems – 30 families, cooperation with ACF

- Hebron University Solar street lighting: Nine LED street light with total consumption of 5KWh\day solar system to feed 400 meter street length.

- Hebron University Renewable Energy Green Tent: 4.5 Kwh daily Energy can be consumed، Hybrid System Solar and wind energy.

- Solar cooker

- Supplying Rawa’een Mosque and School with Solar Energy, cooperation with EWB-Palestine.

- Utilizing renewable energy in lighting second phase

- Utilizing Solar energy in heating Hebron University Swimming pool.

- Utilizing Grid-Tie Solar Energy System for Science Building at Hebron University

- 200KW Solar energy plant
