The course tackles the aspects of scientific thinking, and studies primary and secondary sources and methods of historical criticism. It addresses methods of used in selecting topics, preparing plans, collecting, arranging, and evaluating the materials and data

23701    Philosophy and Evolution of History

This course emphasizes on the most prominent historical schools of the Arabs and the West, such as the schools of Al-Madina, al-Basra, and al-Kufa. It talks about great historians, such as Khalifa bin Khayat, Ibn Qutaybah, al-Dinuri, al-Baladri, al-Yacoubi and others. Additionally, the course discusses the most important historical schools of thought in the West, such as Hegel’s Ideal School and Marx’s Material School

23702    Special Topic in Islamic History

In this course, students will deal with a particular subject from different Islamic, social, economic or intellectual history aspects. They will write particular research on one topics in these aspects

23703    History of Modern Political Thought 

This course deals with political thought in the Renaissance period by discussing Machiavelli, Huber, John Locke and Jean-Jacques Rousseau. It also discusses post-French political ideas, especially liberal ideas that emerged after the success of the bourgeois revolution in Europe, and then moves to the capitalist and socialist thought

The course tackles the economic life in the stages of Islamic history by addressing population groups, land, Kharaj land tax, Jizya, and land ownership

A scientific research determined by the student in coordination with the supervisor. It needs to be approved by the Graduate Studies Committee according to the applicable principles and scientific methodology
