Program Objectives
General Objectives
The general goal of the program is to prepare graduates who are capable of producing high-quality scientific research—both quantitative and qualitative—through the application of critical analysis skills and the ability to connect global developments with political, economic, and social transformations. This is achieved within a rigorous scientific framework utilizing proper research tools, as demonstrated through:
- Critical skills: The ability to formulate and address research problems using appropriate information and methodologies to reach valid conclusions.
- Commitment to quality and ethical standards: Awareness of the necessary standards for scientific research and publication, including critical thinking and intellectual integrity.
- Interpersonal skills: The ability to interact effectively with others, work in teams, and take initiative within a multicultural group.
- Independent work and time management: The ability to work independently, design strategies, manage time efficiently, solve complex problems, integrate findings from various studies and analyses, and produce deliverables within set deadlines.
- Communication skills: The ability to communicate effectively, present in-depth information concisely both orally and in writing, and utilize information and communication technologies along with appropriate academic language when presenting work to peers and professors.
Specific Objectives
- Develop the ability for self-directed learning through independent research across various fields of media using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
- Support students in acquiring in-depth, specialized knowledge in media studies that enables them to grasp the fundamentals of teaching and academic research. This also helps them critically and scientifically analyze and assess the state of media education and research in Palestine.
- Instill the understanding that media is both a message for nations and a reflection of national identity, particularly through its role in shaping and guiding public opinion.
- Cultivate an awareness of the nature of media discourse and the ability to compare it with media narratives in other countries.
- Recognize that everyday media topics are potential research issues that can be developed into academic projects.
- Enhance the ability to search for and utilize reliable online information sources.
- Cultivate creative problem-solving skills.
- Create a stimulating academic and administrative environment capable of attracting top faculty, researchers, and students.
