College of Medicine
Dean’s Welcome Speech
Dear Students, Faculty, Staff, and Visitors,
Welcome to Hebron University College of Medicine. As the dean of this prestigious college, I am delighted to address you.
The medical profession is one of the greatest and noblest professions in human history. It is dedicated to studying the miraculous structure God, the Almighty, created within the fragile human body. Thus, since ancient times, humankind has strived to diagnose ailments and discover their cures.
At the College of Medicine at Hebron University, we are committed to following a determined and ambitious path in this vast field to continue the journey of progress and prosperity. The credit for laying its foundation and building its structure goes—after God, the Almighty—to a distinguished group of esteemed professors whose immense contributions to the college’s establishment we will never forget.
Therefore, our comprehensive mission and vision are not only to produce doctors with high academic standards but also to cultivate individuals with noble ethics, free from greed and exploitation, possessing high ambition and well-rounded personalities. They should be the building blocks of their homeland, demonstrating absolute dedication to their patients and the noble mission they carry on their shoulders. Medical students are the academic elite of society, making them highly capable of leading communities, building institutions, and developing the Ministry of Health and other ministries. Despite limited resources, the Palestinian people possess the religious, moral, and intellectual qualities that enable them to rise among the ranks of noble nations.
Among our visions, which we strive to achieve as soon as possible, is establishing a university hospital capable of providing advanced tertiary healthcare. University hospitals typically offer higher educational efficiency compared to government or private hospitals. Through this hospital, we aim to train students to achieve high therapeutic and clinical competence and to restore trust in Palestinian institutions by performing specialized surgeries not yet conducted in neighboring countries, such as cerebral catheterization and heart transplants.
We must also highlight a matter of global importance, particularly for medical students: scientific research. We aspire to graduate physician-scientists who contribute to various research fields. Undoubtedly, nations rise and prosper through scientific research, which not only focuses on treating and healing patients but also on discovering new advancements in modern medicine that benefit patients and society at large. Scientific research is the most effective path for a physician to achieve success and esteemed status, aligning with the progress of societies and nations.
In conclusion, physicians must rise to the responsibility placed on their shoulders and uphold the sacred trust granted by God. Perseverance, continuous diligence, and patience throughout the long, challenging years of medical school are essential to fulfilling this noble mission.
Best Regards,
Dean, College of Medicine
